Butterfly holds that considered matchmaking is a serious act and should be treated as one. Its introductions are structured around travel rather than proximity, and around depth rather than volume.
Butterfly membership is by application. A prospective member requests an interview through the site, meets by video with a named account cupid, and is admitted or gently declined within seven days. Members are received rather than processed. The interview is not a screening but the first hour of what becomes a twelve-month relationship between member and Cupid — the relationship on which every subsequent introduction rests.
By hand
Members are introduced by hand, not by algorithm. Each presentation is written and reasoned by the Cupid, curated from the community or sourced beyond it in the manner of a private executive search. A presentation arrives as a single image, a written introduction, and the matchmaker's reasoning. It expires in seventy-two hours. It cannot be saved, forwarded, or revisited.
By considered pace
Members receive presentations at approximately monthly cadence, spaced no fewer than two weeks apart in any case. The rhythm is deliberate. Fewer, more considered presentations serve the format better than volume, and give the Cupid time to read each member's response before curating the next.

The central act of Butterfly is the Rendezvous — a planned meeting of two members, on neutral ground, for two or three nights. The Rendezvous is not a date. It is the qualifying event of the relationship: an honest test of chemistry conducted in real time, in real space, in a city neither member is yet bored of. Once a presentation is mutually accepted, members speak by voice, and — before any travel is arranged — by video. Only then does the Butterfly concierge open the booking, courtesy of the AMERA Private Network.
The city
Cupids choose destinations for absence as much as for presence. A modestly beautiful city that neither member owns is a better first Rendezvous than a legendary one either of them regularly visits. Kyoto in autumn. Como in September. Tangier in the shoulder season. The measure is not the place's own claim on the traveller; it is the absence of prior claim by either member.
The stay
Accommodation is arranged through the AMERA Private Network's standing relationships with properties across the world. Separate rooms by default. Two or three nights, unhurried, unscheduled beyond a discreet concierge check-in on the first day and the availability of the concierge line throughout. What happens between two members on a Rendezvous is between them.

The Admirals Club is Butterfly's inner circle — the social architecture that holds the community together in physical space. Restricted to Premium Members, separately ticketed, by invitation. Held quarterly across select international locations. Operated as a Butterfly programme within the AMERA events calendar. Unphotographed by design.
Society Weekend
The headline tier. Three nights, twenty to forty members, at a single property or across a yacht-and-residence pairing. Curated to underprogramme rather than overprogramme — the conditions for connection are provided; the connection itself is left to the room. The Society Weekend is the gathering that defines the year.
Salon
Two or three nights, structured around a moment in the public calendar — a festival, a regatta, a biennale, a season of cultural significance. Members travel to attend the public moment and Butterfly hosts privately around it: dinners, residences, curated access.
Dinner Series
A single evening, twelve to sixteen members at one long table, hosted by a Cupid. In a private room or a private home, in a Butterfly city. Held monthly. The most accessible rung.
